The Light to My Path

In the old times, when the sun set and the night fell, people didn’t have the convenience of streetlights or flashlights. The only source of light was a simple torch. This torch, with its clay base filled with oil, provided just enough light to see the next step ahead. It was essential for any journey taken in the night, guiding the way and keeping travelers safe from harm.

In Psalm 119:105, the word of God is compared to that torch or lamp as we know it today. Just as the torch was essential for a nighttime journey, the word of God is essential for our journey through this dark and often challenging world. It illuminates our path towards salvation, keeping us from stumbling and guiding us safely to our destination.

The Bible contains everything we need for our faith and salvation. It is God's living word, teaching, correcting, and training us in righteousness. As the Apostle Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All scripture inspired by God is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be proficient, equipped for every good work."

The world can be a dark place. We face challenges, uncertainties, and fears every day. But with God’s word as our lamp, we have a light that guides us, comforts us, and gives us hope. It’s a light that never goes out, a light that shines brightly no matter how dark the world around us may seem.

Friends, don’t go on a spiritual journey in the dark. Don’t try to navigate the challenges of life without the light of God’s word. His word is a torch that leads our steps on straight paths, setting us free from visible and invisible dangers and leading us to a place of rest and into His eternal kingdom.

So, set aside time each day to read the Bible. Reflect on what it means and how it applies to your life. Pray for understanding and guidance as you read. As you make time for God’s word, you’ll find His peace, strength, and joy filling your life. Keep pressing forward and let God’s word light your path.
