God in the Details

During a recent trip to California, I stopped at an In‑N‑Out Burger. Now, if you’ve ever been to one, you know it’s more than just a fast-food restaurant. It’s a California classic. The burgers are fresh, the fries are hot, and the milkshakes are the real deal.
But while I was enjoying my meal, I noticed something unusual, something subtle. On the bottom of the cup, in tiny print, were the words: John 3:16. Intrigued, I looked again, this time at the wrapper under my burger, then under the tray liner, and sure enough, there were more Bible verses, almost hidden, waiting to be noticed.
That moment reminded me of a powerful truth: God is always speaking. He often plants His message right where everyday people will stumble across it, if only they look a little closer.
We’re often waiting for the big miracle—the sky to split open, the heavens to thunder, angels to show up with trumpets. But more often than not, God speaks in whispers. Like a gentle breeze or a still, small voice, He places His truth where only the attentive heart will notice. He hides little treasures in plain sight. He leaves fingerprints on ordinary days.
The Creator of the universe is also the God of details. He signs every day like an artist signs a masterpiece. The sunrise has His initials. The laugh of a child echoes His kindness. A stranger’s smile delivers His encouragement. Yet it’s easy to rush right past divine fingerprints because they’re often written in small print, tucked into the small moments, just waiting to be discovered.
Like those tiny verses on a burger wrapper, God’s promises are all around us. You may not see it at first. The promise might not be flashing in neon. But if you flip over the cup of your daily routine, if you look beneath the surface of your busy schedule, you’ll find verses written on your life. You’ll see God’s love printed in the details.
So, don’t miss the miracle in the mundane. Look beneath the surface. Somewhere in your ordinary, God has signed His name. And when you find it, hold on to it. For even the smallest print carries eternal truth: "For God so loved the world..."—and yes, that includes you.
