The Eyes of the Heart
“The artist must train not only his eye but also his soul so that it can weigh colors in its own scale and thus become a determinant in artistic creation.” Wassiliy Kandinsky.
To see with the eyes of the soul, that’s what the painter does. The difference between a photograph and a painting is that a photographer will register it just as it is, factually. But a painter will see and paint with the eyes of his soul.
Likewise in the spiritual life, we can see and admire the eternal realities with the eyes of our heart, if only Holy Spirit illuminates our soul and fills us with uncreated light.
