Where Is Your Mind?

Today, there are phone apps that can tell people where your body is. Families use them all the time. With a quick glance, someone can know whether you are at home, at work, on the road, or safely arrived.

But imagine if there were an app that could show where our mind is. That is a far more important than where my body happens to be. Because long before our feet move in the wrong direction, our thoughts usually go there first.

We often ask one another, “How are you feeling today?” That is a good question. But there is another question worth asking: “How are you thinking today?” Or even, “Where is your mind resting today?”

Saint Paul gives us a beautiful answer in Philippians 4:8: “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable… think about these things.” What Paul is showing us is that a life filled with peace, joy, gentleness, and strength begins in the mind. It is built thought by thought.

The mind is like the inner garden of the soul. Whatever we plant there will eventually grow. If we fill it with fear, resentment, and comparison, that is what will begin to shape our days. But if we fill it with truth, beauty, gratitude, and the promises of God, then peace begins to take root within us.

Many of us try to change our lives only from the outside. We try harder. We manage behavior. We control words. But God desires something deeper. He desires transformation from within. As Scripture says, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

That means we are invited to become attentive to our thoughts. To notice them. To bring them before God. To ask Him to cleanse, guide, and steady the inner life. A renewed mind begins when we place our thoughts in the light of Christ and let His Word shape the way we think, respond, and live.

So today, take a moment and ask yourself: Where is my mind? And then gently lead it back to the place where life begins anew: the presence of God, the truth of His Word, and the peace that comes when we learn to think with Him.
