The Yellow Pages of Heaven

Did you know that in 2001, an Armenian Yellow Pages directory was published, containing the names and phone numbers of Armenians living across the United States and Canada?

I discovered a copy the other day while visiting Hye Ground Café in Racine, Wisconsin. And by the way, thank you, Ari, for the delicious Armenian soorj and the warm hospitality! If you’re ever in the area, stop by. It truly feels like a little piece of Armenia in the heart of Wisconsin.

As I flipped through those pages, I couldn't help but smile. Before Facebook, Instagram, and smartphones, someone had taken the time to bring our Armenian community together in one book. Page after page, there were names, families, businesses, and phone numbers. It was a beautiful reminder of our desire to stay connected, no matter how far apart we lived.

But that old directory also made me think about something deeper. God has His own directory. The Apostle Paul speaks of those “whose names are in the book of life” (Philippians 4:3). What a beautiful thought! Our names are known in heaven, and in God's heart, no one is forgotten.

Phone numbers change. People move. Directories become outdated. Over time, we may even lose touch with people who were once very close to us.

But God's love never becomes outdated. He knows each of us personally. Through the prophet Isaiah, the Lord gives us this beautiful promise: “I have called you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1).

Think about those words for a moment. The God who created the heavens and the earth knows your name. He remembers you even when the world seems to have forgotten you. And you never have to wonder whether He still has your number.

Friends, sometimes, in the busyness of life, we may feel unnoticed or forgotten. But to God, we are never just another name among millions. Each of us is precious, known, and loved.

So, whenever you feel alone, overlooked, or forgotten, remember that your name is written in God's heart. You belong to Him, and nothing can take away His love for you.

May we live each day with the joy of knowing that we are remembered on earth by those who love us, and in heaven by the One who loves us forever.
