Still Coloring

We all have moments in life when we feel a little cracked, a little worn, a little less than whole. Maybe life didn’t go the way you planned. Maybe someone hurt you, you made mistakes, you faced losses, disappointments, detours. The enemy wants you to believe that once you’re broken, you’re finished. That you’ve lost your value. That you’ll never shine again.

But God doesn’t retire people because they’re broken; He redeems them. He doesn’t throw you away; He writes His masterpiece through you.

You’ve probably heard the saying: “Even a broken crayon can still color.” A crayon may be cracked in two, the paper torn, maybe it’s been stepped on, or sharpened too many times. But put it in the right hand, and it can still fill the world with color. It can still make beauty. It can still fulfill its purpose.

Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.” Even if you’re broken, even if you feel worn down, even if life didn’t look like the picture you imagined. God says, I’m not done with you. I’m still writing. I’m still coloring. I’m still shaping something beautiful.

Think about Moses. He was broken by failure, hiding in the desert when God called him. Think about Peter. He denied Jesus, and yet Jesus still used him to build the Church. Think about Paul. His past was stained with mistakes and murders, but God turned him into the greatest missionary the world has ever seen.

You may feel like that broken crayon at the bottom of the box pushed aside, overlooked, forgotten. Maybe life didn’t go the way you hoped. A relationship ended. A dream didn’t come to pass. Somebody mistreated you, betrayed you, didn’t see your worth. And you think, “What good am I now?”

Your brokenness is not a barrier to God’s purpose. It’s the canvas for His glory. Sometimes the cracks in your life become the places where God’s light shines brightest. Sometimes, the things you think disqualify you are the very things God uses to display His strength.

So, lift your head, you’re still in the Master Artist’s hand. He’s still drawing something beautiful through your life. That broken crayon still has color in it, and God knows exactly how to bring it out.
