Preface to Eternity

Our human existence can be compared to a book. Every day you are writing a page. Every decision becomes a sentence. Every prayer becomes a paragraph. Every act of kindness becomes a line that will never be erased. Your life is not random ink on paper. It is a story unfolding under the loving hand of God.
Many people think this life here and now is the whole book. They see these years on earth as the main story. And if they believe in eternal life at all, they see it as a small appendix at the end, a brief note after everything important is finished.
But as Christians, we see it differently. This present life is the preface. It is the introduction. It is the opening pages that prepare us for something far greater. The moment of death is not the closing cover of the book. It is the beginning of chapter one.
When you truly understand that, it changes how you live. You stop panicking over every temporary problem. You stop measuring your worth by titles, applause, or possessions. You begin to ask, “What am I writing that will last? What kind of story am I preparing for eternity?”
God has placed eternity in your heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11). There is something in you that longs for more because you were created for more. The preface is important. It sets the tone. It introduces the theme. It prepares the reader for what is coming. And in the same way, your life today is preparing you for glory.
I believe one of the greatest freedoms a Christian can have is this eternal perspective. It removes fear. It softens anxiety. It gives courage. You can walk through storms knowing they are temporary. You can endure loss knowing separation is not forever. You can face uncertainty knowing the final chapter has already been secured by Christ.
The Scripture says, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). That is the grand, eternal chapter filled with glory.
So live today with confidence. Write your pages with faith. Fill your paragraphs with love. Your preface is important. Make it a good one. Prepare your heart for the glory that is coming.
