I pass by the Empire State Building almost every day. It's an iconic landmark millions dream of seeing at least once. Yet, there I was, walking by it day after day, without lifting my eyes to acknowledge its presence. It had become just another part of my routine, blending into the background of my daily life.
But the other day, I noticed a group of tourists, their faces alight with excitement, taking pictures and marveling at the sight before them. Their joy, their awe, was contagious. For the first time in a long time, I stopped. I looked up. And I was struck by the beauty and grandeur of the Empire State Building, a beauty I had been taking for granted.
Friends, isn't it true that we often overlook the blessings in our lives? We get so caught up in our routines, problems, and ambitions that we fail to see the wonders God has placed all around us. We forget to appreciate the blessings we've been given, blessings that others might be praying for.
The Bible tells us in James 1:17, "Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change." Our lives are filled with gifts and blessings from God, but how often do we stop to acknowledge them? How often do we lift our eyes from our daily grind to savor the beauty of God's work in our lives?
So, friends, don’t let your blessings become just part of the background. Look up and see them. Lift your eyes and hearts to God and thank Him for His countless blessings. And don't just stop there. Be an inspiration to others, just like those tourists were for me. Become a source of light and inspiration to those around you.
