There’s a true story about an elderly Christian lady whose age began to impact her memory. She had spent her life memorizing much of the Bible, but as time went on, her memory began to fail her, and the verses she once knew so well started to slip away.
There was one verse, though, that she held onto for a long time. It was from 2 Timothy 1:12: “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.”
But as time passed, even more slipped away, leaving only a fragment: “I have committed to Him.” She clung to those words, trusting in the One she had committed her life to. Eventually, all that remained was a single, precious word: “Him.” As she neared the end of her earthly journey, she repeated that word over and over: “Him. Him. Him. Him.”
My friends, in that one word, “Him,” she held onto the entire message of the Bible, the Good News itself. Because it's not about us, it's all about Him. Our lives, our faith, our salvation—they all revolve around Him. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It's always been about Him. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible points to Him. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He is the foundation of our faith and the cornerstone of our hope.
In our lives, we face challenges, distractions, and moments of forgetfulness, but let us never forget who is at the center of it all. Let us never lose sight of Him. He is our rock, our refuge, our strength. He is the one who keeps us, who holds us, who loves us unconditionally. When we live with that mindset, everything changes. Our worries diminish, our fears subside, and our faith grows stronger. Because we know that He is able to keep what we have committed to Him until that Day.
So, brothers and sisters, let's hold onto Him with all our hearts. Let's keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. And let's remember that no matter what happens in this life, we have Him, and that is more than enough.
