God’s Word Never Fails

In 2002, during my last year at the Etchmiadzin Seminary, I had a disagreement with the deputy dean. It wasn’t just a small misunderstanding—it was serious. He was trying to expel me. In my mind, everything I had worked for was slipping away. I had given my heart to serving God, yet here I was, facing a battle I didn’t know how to fight.
One day, after a tough conversation with him, I went to a friend’s room, simply needing to speak, to breathe, to make sense of what was happening. And there on his wall was a verse—Isaiah 41:10: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
When I read that verse, something shifted inside me. It was as if God Himself was saying, "Son, don’t be afraid. I’m still in control. This battle is not yours to fight alone—I am with you.”
That promise steadied my heart. The situation did not change overnight, but I changed. Fear gave way to faith. Anxiety gave way to assurance. And in the end, God had the final word. I was not expelled. I finished my studies. And the path God planned for me opened before me, step by step.
Years later, after my car accident, I lay in a hospital bed at Albany Medical Center—hurt, uncertain, and unsure of what recovery would look like. And that same verse found me again — Isaiah 41:10. A different place, a different struggle, but the same unchanging God whispering the same faithful promise: “I strengthened you once, I helped you once, and I will do it again.”
Maybe you are facing your own battle today. Perhaps it’s a struggle at work, tension in your home, a diagnosis that shook you, or a burden that feels too heavy to carry. Take heart: God has not left you. The same God who carried you through past struggles will carry you through this one. What He has spoken, He will accomplish. What He has promised, He will fulfill.
This is who our God is. His promises never expire. His faithfulness never weakens. His Word never fails.
