God’s Heart for You

The first monologue in the Bible is found in the very first chapter of the Book of Genesis, where God says, “Let us make humans in our image, according to our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26). From the very beginning of the Bible, we see that God is thinking about us. God wasn’t just creating planets and stars—He was creating us, His masterpiece, in His very own image.

The very first dialogue recorded in Scripture is God calling out to Adam after the fall. Genesis 3:9 says, “Where are you?” Think about that for a moment. It wasn’t Adam running to God—it was God running after Adam. It wasn’t Adam seeking God—it was God seeking Adam. That’s who our God is—He’s always the one chasing after us.

From the very first moment God spoke His thoughts aloud to the first question He asked, His heart has always been turned toward us. It is God who persistently seeks after us, not us after God. When we stumble, when we fall short, when we feel far away, God is the one calling out, “Where are you?”

He’s asking that question not because He doesn’t know where you are but because He wants you to know—He’s right there, ready to meet you, right where you are. You don’t have to have it all together, you don’t have to fix everything before you come to Him. He’s not angry, He’s not condemning—He’s seeking, He’s searching, He’s loving.

Maybe today, you feel like God’s far away. Maybe life hasn’t turned out the way you hoped, and you’re wondering, “Where is God in all this?” Friend, He’s not far. He’s closer than you think. He’s calling out to you, “Where are you?”—in your brokenness, in your struggles, in your uncertainty. God’s love is pursuing you, even right now.

So, don’t let doubt, don’t let anything hold you back. God is ready to meet you with open arms. The same God who created you in His image, the same God who saved you through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son, is the God who is calling you by name today. His love for you never fades, His pursuit of your heart has never stopped—and it never will.
