I read an interesting thing about the early days of golf balls. When manufacturers first made golf balls, they had smooth, flawless outer covers, kind of like a giant ping-pong ball. They were called feathery! But something strange happened out on the course. After the ball had been roughed up a little, knocked around, maybe even dented here and there, they noticed it started traveling farther. It flew straighter.
So what did the manufacturers do? They started making golf balls with dimples already built in. That’s right, the imperfections were no accident. They were part of the design!
It’s the same way in your life. Those bumps you've been through, the hardships, the disappointments, they’re not there to stop you. They’re helping you travel farther. They’re helping you reach your destiny. They’re making you stronger and wiser.
Think about Joseph in the Bible. He was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, thrown into prison. If anybody had a reason to say, “I’ve been roughed up too much to be used by God,” it was Joseph. But through all of it, God was putting spiritual dimples on Joseph. When the time came, Joseph didn’t just survive, he soared. He became second in command over all of Egypt and saved a nation from famine.
God knows what you need for the journey ahead. He’s not just preparing blessings for you, He’s preparing you for the blessings. And the process may involve some discomfort. But don’t fight the bumps. Don’t curse the process. Trust that God is shaping you for greater distance.
You may feel today like you've been knocked around, maybe by a bad break, a health challenge, a dream that hasn't come to pass. But what you think is setting you back is really getting you ready to soar. Just like that golf ball, your bumps are giving you lift!
So don’t hide your dimples. Don’t be ashamed of the bumps and bruises you’ve been through. That’s your testimony. That’s your story. You didn’t stay down, you got up. You didn’t quit, you kept swinging. And now you’re going to fly farther than ever before and step into places you never thought possible!
