A Future with Hope

A gardener once observed a bird trying to build a nest on a pile of broken branches from an apple tree. The bird was working hard, gathering twigs, making what it thought was a safe home. But each time it flew away, the gardener went and destroyed the nest. The next day, he saw the bird building its nest on one of the other trees in his garden. He looked up, smiled, and left the bird alone. It must have seemed to the poor bird that the gardener was the cruelest man in the world. But the gardener knew that he would soon have to burn the pile of cut branches, and if he left the nest there, the bird and its young would also burn with the waste.

Sometimes, we work so hard to build our dreams on what feels stable, on what we think will give us happiness or security. But then, when it all seems to fall apart, we can’t help but wonder, “Why, Lord? Why didn’t You let this work out?” We may feel confused, even crushed, as if everything we’re trying to build is just being pulled down.

Friends, God sees what we don’t see. Just as that gardener knew the branches would burn, God knows when something in our lives is temporary, fragile, even harmful to us. And sometimes, He has to remove what we think is best to lead us to something far better.

We only see a small piece of the picture, but God sees the whole masterpiece. He has a perfect view, and His plan is always for our good. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”

Now, there are moments when it’s hard to understand. Maybe you’re facing setbacks, disappointments, struggles that make no sense. But could it be that God is redirecting you? Maybe He’s saying, “My child, there’s something better for you. You’re not meant to settle on those broken branches. I have a living tree waiting, a place where you can truly flourish.”

So, let’s put our trust in Him, the One who has a future filled with hope for each of us. Let’s rest in the truth that we are held in His hands, and those hands never fail.
