Years ago, there was a ship caught in a severe storm. Everyone on board the ship was filled with fear. A sailor on board had his son with him. Someone noticed the calm the young boy was while everyone around him panicked. So, they walked over to the boy and asked, “Son, how can you be so calm in this storm? Aren’t you afraid of what might happen?”
The boy looked the man in the eyes, as calm as a young boy can be, and said, “Sir, I’m not afraid of what might happen. I have been on this deck, and I know we are going to be just fine because my Father is at the wheel.”
This boy's trust in his father mirrors our trust in our Heavenly Father. In our lives, we often face storms – challenges and trials that threaten to overwhelm us. But, like the boy on the ship, we have a Father who is in control. Our Lord, our God, is at the wheel of our lives.
In Isaiah 41:10, our Heavenly Father reminds us: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Indeed, He is our strength and our helper. When the waves of life rise high, when the winds of hardship blow fiercely, we are not alone. God is with us, upholding us with His righteous right hand. No matter how severe the storm or how high the waves, our Heavenly Father is at the wheel. And with Him, we are more than just fine; we are in the safest hands.
