“Come and let us find joy and bear with patience the difficulties that the world may throw at us, knowing that, especially in those moments, we are on God’s mind.” (St Basil 330-379AD)

St. Basil reminds us that in our moments of trial, we are especially on God’s mind. This is a profound truth. God does not abandon us when we are in need; instead, He draws closer to us. These moments can be trying, testing our faith and patience. Yet, it is precisely in these moments that God draws near to us, offering His love, His comfort, and His guidance. Psalm 34:18 assures us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

God’s companionship in our trials is a testament to His enduring love. He does not leave us to navigate our struggles alone but walks beside us, offering His strength and guidance. In these moments, we are invited to lean into our faith, trusting that God’s grace is sufficient for us. His presence brings comfort and peace, reminding us we are never alone.

As we walk through the valleys of hardship, let us be encouraged by the examples of saints and martyrs who found strength in their faith during their trials. Their lives remind us that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness, and His grace is always sufficient for our needs. Let us find joy in our trials, knowing that in those moments, God is closest to us, carrying us through with His endless love and grace.
