Assumption of the Holy Mother-of-God
Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother-of-God—an extraordinary event that goes beyond human comprehension and reveals the boundless love and grace of our Creator. This significant occasion marks the day when Mary, the Holy Mother, was taken up into heavenly glory, both in body and spirit, to be forever united with her beloved Son, our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ.
When we reflect on Mary's Assumption, we are touched by the profound love that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, held for his mother. Think about it: the Almighty God, who created the universe and breathed life into existence, felt a special and tender love for the woman who nurtured him, cared for him, and witnessed his growth. This truth reveals the depth of God's love for us, His children. It reflects the sacred bond between a mother and her child.
This revelation is a distinctive Christian insight that we, as Armenians, embrace and hold dear. Our heritage is intertwined with a deep understanding of the sanctity of family. Our love and respect for our mothers resonate deeply with God's love for Mary. This Feast of the Assumption reminds us that we are not alone on our journey. Our loving Mother in Heaven intercedes for us and leads us closer to her Son, our Lord.
In our devotion to the Mother of God, let us also remember the importance of obedience to God's will. Mary's life testified to her willingness to say "yes" to God, even in the face of uncertainty and challenges. Let us, too, strive to align our lives with God's divine plan, trusting in His guidance and providence with open hearts.
As we partake in the sacred mysteries of this feast, may we be inspired by Mary's unwavering faith and devotion. As Mary did, let us cultivate humility and surrender ourselves to God's love and mercy. And let us continue to embrace the profound truth that the love between a mother and her child mirrors God's divine love for each one of us.
